Description
Charged current weak interactions between quarks are governed by the CKM matrix. The matrix element Vts represents the coupling strength between top and strange quarks. The square of this element corresponds to the branching ratio of a top quark decaying into a strange quark and a W boson. This value can be inferred indirectly through measurements from B meson oscillations or obtained via a global fit to the CKM matrix using precision measurement studies. Direct determination of this component tests the Standard Model (SM) and places constraints on theories beyond the SM. This analysis aims to directly measure the parameter by tagging strange jets from top quark decays. A machine learning-based jet classifier is used for tagging and applied to dileptonic final state events of top pair production at 13 TeV with the CMS experiment.
